A long time ago, a pup of questionable pedigree adopted Martha’s Vineyard
sailing Captain. Christened “Black
Dog,” by the Captain, this four-legged seafarer’s antics
brightened Captain Bob’s days. His feisty pup became the
namesake of The Black Dog Tavern Company, a coastal
landmark since its doors first opened in 1971. Today,
Black Dog’s o spring still wander along the shores of New
England and aboard the decks of the Black Dog Tall Ships
Shenandoah & Alabama.
